Support A Steady Yoga Practice: Zest Things Up!

“May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.” ~translation of Sanskrit Mantra Lokah Samastha Sukhino Bhavantu

This week, we will continue to explore the individual poses of yoga or the asanas by addressing the second energy center that is located at the level of the pelvis. It is called the svadhisthana chakra or the pelvic chakra. It also strongly relates to the planet Pluto. A practice for this chakra will be very fluid and energizing.

Here’s a juicy flow sequence to galvanize your creativity & balance your emotions:

Spinal Rolls

Cat/Cow

Bhujangasana (Cobra)

Lunges

Setu Bandha as a vinyasa (Bridge as a flow)

  1. A good mudra for steadying the svadhisthana chakra is the Ushas Mudrath-2 or the harmonizing gesture.

See Mudras, Yoga in Your Hands for more info.

One of the best restorative postures for this chakra is Supta Baddha Konasana (supported bound angle pose). It is ideal for balancing the energy within the body and stimulating the pelvic chakra.

When finished practicing this set of movements, you should feel satisfied, emotionally stable and determined to achieve great things!
